How Blue Ninja Got Started
Award-winning Virtual Assistant (VA) Louisa Stewart had been an office administrator since leaving University in Australia, and with the wanderlust bug hitting her in 2005 moved to the UK. It was there Louisa’s journey to the beginning of Blue Ninja started. Louisa worked with public health organisations and was on an administrative journey which can only be described as a ‘baptism of fire’. If you didn’t know something, very quickly you worked out how to.
Problem solving became a way of life, with a team all over the world. After working for a number of years, Louisa thought administrative consultancy would be a useful resource to organisations – Blue Ninja was born.
The name Blue Ninja is a tribute to the fact that administrators are like ninjas who are in the shadows, supporting teams and delivering. Blue is Louisa’s favourite colour. Louisa designed the Blue Ninja logo and it all fell into place. Louisa continued to work for a number of years with organisations and businesses in the UK and internationally, and in 2017 relocated to Leiden, The Netherlands with her partner.
After studying European Languages and Business Administration Julie Taylor started her career in various customer service and European sales roles before moving into Financial Services. Along with moving from her hometown in Yorkshire to Edinburgh, the size, scale and change of banking provided many opportunities to move departments and she carried out various reporting, management information, analyst and relationship manager roles over her 11-year career.
The opportunity of redundancy gave her chance to re-focus and become an independent contractor in Project Management Office roles for another large bank, an initial 6-month contract continued for 3 years. Applying previous knowledge and a wealth of experience these were vital tools to work and adapt within another ever-changing large corporate which included leading virtual teams, creating, challenging and improving processes and applying best practice.
Whilst embracing the motto ‘there are no stupid questions’ Julie is always looking to keep things simple. As the contract came to an end Julie and her husband relocated to The Netherlands and then a chance encounter with Louisa and Blue Ninja Netherlands was born.
